OUR PROJECT
Complutum Montessori School is a private, secular, and bilingual school born from the need and desire to establish a fully Montessori educational project in the Corredor del Henares.
Led by teachers with extensive experience in Montessori pedagogy, it offers an inspiring educational experience based on a globally recognized approach, designed to meet the individual needs of each student, enabling them to reach their full potential in all areas of development.
Located in a privileged environment surrounded by nature, near the Los Cerros de Alcalá natural park, the school has a public playground and a basketball court nearby.
Nature and healthy habits are fundamental parts of this pedagogy, integrated into our daily activities such as working in the garden and enjoying outdoor activities in a natural environment.
EDUCATIONAL STAGES
Currently, there are two educational stages:
- Children's House (Early Childhood): from 2.5 to 6 years old
- Elementary (Primary): from 6 to 12 years old
- Adolescencia de 12 a 16 años.
The ages for each stage correspond to the developmental stages upon which Montessori pedagogy is based.
PEDAGOGICAL FOUNDATION
Our approach focuses on fostering a natural curiosity and a love for learning, providing students with the freedom to explore and discover at their own pace. With a prepared environment and educational materials designed specifically to meet the developmental needs of the child, our highly trained Montessori educators will guide your child toward academic and personal success.
We believe in the importance of creating a safe and warm environment through respect for our students, ensuring their development and happiness. We foster a close relationship between the guide and the child, allowing for individualized attention and support.
We work with various manipulative and concrete materials that allow for the natural assimilation of each subject in spacious (environmental) areas with low student-to-teacher ratios. All the work is done during school hours, although students can take home research projects in which they wish to deepen.
Evaluation is carried out through the observation of each student and through the “curricular notebooks,” which document all the work done throughout the year, showcasing the child’s progress and development.
Within the Montessori cycle, the main subjects worked on include Mathematics, Language, Foreign Language, Natural Sciences, and Social Studies. Workshops will cover areas such as Physical Education (twice a week), Spanish Language and Culture, Music, and English. Families can track their child’s academic progress through a platform called Transparent Classroom. These subjects are not individualized in the daily schedule and times are adjusted based on their complexity at any given time. To gain more meaningful learning, educational outings will be organized.
An important pillar within the Montessori cycle is education for peace. Therefore, we dedicate daily time for assemblies where each student shares their experiences and conflicts are resolved. In this way, participants express, argue, and debate, reaching agreements based on respect and tolerance, fostering healthy coexistence between children, families, and teachers.

After lunch, there will be a time for lighter activities, called complementary activities, which vary depending on the interests shown by the students and the proposals from the guides. This way, if a family chooses to have lunch at home, they have the option not to return after lunch without affecting the child’s academic training.
Fridays will end at 2:45 PM to allow time for guide meetings, self-evaluation, ongoing training, and preparation for the upcoming week. Extended hours will be available for those who request it.
The calendar follows the academic calendar of the Comunidad de Madrid with the local holidays of Alcalá de Henares.
